Today we take a closer look at the manual and CD. So close, that we will post the half of the English pages, including the special Wind and Water manga in the middle of the manual! You can see how many efforts went into the production – not only of the game, but also the packaging.
Until today, Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles has the largest and most expensive to produce manual of all Sega Dreamcast indie games: Half in English, half in (professional translated) Japanese, full colored and extra thick pages with 125 g/qm! A “normal” page for videogame manuals is only about 60 – 80 g/qm. This gives the owner an extra nice grip and feeling while browsing through the manual.
Little trivia: After the manual has been produced it was that thick that it almost didn’t make it into the front of the jewel case, because the gap between the case and the stub (which holds the manuals next to it) was too small! We thought about producing new jewel cases especially for this purpose, but luckily it made it through – even though it was very close. Still the CD factory couldn’t insert all manuals with their machines automaticly – like it’s done with every videogame production – but we had to insert every singly manual by hand!! What an effort, but it was worth it!
But now, without any more words, the promised manual and CD shots.
